“What Must I Do To Be Saved?”

According to John 3:16, salvation is a free gift from God that anyone may receive by exercising faith in Jesus Christ and repenting for their sin (Acts 20:21).

Some of the benefits of salvation are that people are given an opportunity to have a “New Life” in Jesus Christ. God completely forgives their mistakes of the past, they receive eternal life, and become true children of God. They also receive the Spirit of God, which enables them to live that “New Life” based on God’s values, outlined in the Bible, and to spread the gospel to others.

What does it take to exercise faith in Jesus Christ and repent of my sins?

Well, the process is simple:

  1. Believe that God loves you and desires to have a personal relationship with you.
  2. Admit that you are not perfect and do wrong things at times in your life. However, now you desire to put those wrongs in your past and live a life that is pleasing and acceptable in God’s eyes.
  3. Believe that Jesus Christ died on a cross to make up the difference for your imperfections, in order for God to forgive your wrongs, and to give you eternal life through his righteous acts.
  4. Accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior into your heart. In addition, make a commitment that from this day forward you will genuinely live a life that is pleasing to him rather than yourself or others.
